Extreme weather events exact terrible tolls in human life, in social and economic stability, in livelihoods, in national security – in virtually every link of the chain that sustains life on Earth.

Join us on March 19 to hear from Dr. Arthur Lerner-Lam, Deputy Director at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) of Columbia University, as he discusses Columbia University’s work on these complex issues, and how we -- public officials, communities, the private sector, and citizens worldwide – need to address the climate challenge as a matter of humanity’s destiny.

Columbia University scientists are at the forefront in understanding the risks to human life and property from extreme weather events, both in the present and future climates, and on developing solutions to mitigate those risks.
